Gerth Garden Club

 

We are excited to announce the formation of JW Gerth’s first Garden Club!

The garden is located at the front of the school, to the left of the front doors. Under the guidance of Ms. Striker, Mme. Zehr, Miss. Kruger, Mrs. Barr, Miss. Fox, and about 30 eager, green-thumbed students, we have joined together for some weeding, digging and planting.

Currently, the garden is in the preparatory stage. The ground has been turned and we are awaiting our delivery of topsoil and compost. In the coming days, we will be planting a variety of plants and shrubs that will help bring colour and life to the entrance of the school.

The gardening club feels a school garden is an excellent way to bring beauty to Gerth, while helping students understand the importance of caring for our environment. The garden will provide students with an opportunity to interact with nature and to see the results of their labour, first-hand.

The Gerth Garden is meant to be an area for everyone to enjoy. Feel free to stop by to view our progress!
